About This Course
The Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (“the POPI Act”) significantly impacts on existing legal frameworks, specifically those pertaining to the right to privacy entrenched in terms of Section 14 of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996. The POPI Act aims to entrench the right to privacy further when the personal information of an individual, or in certain circumstances a juristic person, is processed.
Pursuant to promoting and protecting the rights protected by the POPI Act, as well as regulate the manner in which personal information may be processed, the provisions of the POPI Act impose certain conditions for how personal information may be lawfully processed.
The aim of this course is to illuminate the essence of the POPI Act by explaining abstract legal principles in a simple manner, thereby assisting organisations to understand what the conditions for the lawful processing of personal information are and how they should be applied in practice to ensure that their operations are aligned with what the POPI Act requires of them.
This course therefore offers you the opportunity to seamlessly navigate the cumbersome duty of ensuring operational and legislative compliance, by approaching the process with the advantage of an enlightened perspective.
A user is not required to satisfy any qualification criteria in order to register and sign up to complete this course. However, to ensure that the course satisfies the needs of a specific user, Weavind Online urges users to approach the course with a comprehensive understanding of the operational structures and systems applicable within their organisation, which ultimately culminate in the processing of personal information as envisioned by the POPI Act.
